Sadder, Weirder

Going along with yesterday’s post of Jobs Schmobs, here is another Bomb the Music Industry! video, an acoustic performance of Sadder, Weirder.

Bomb The Music Industry – Sadder Weirder from If You Make It on Vimeo.

Fun stuff. It’s hosted by If You Make It, a site full of free albums, live perfomances and more. Check them out.

Jobs Schmobs

New site, new video! Go check out Jobs Schmobs, an independent music video for the song by the same name by Bomb the Music Industry!

I’m really happy with this one. I wanted to try something a bit different than my last few projects. I had the idea of a stroboscopic image montage bordering on live action animation for about a year and just snapped footage wherever I happened to be. It was a great compositing exercise and I learned a hell of a lot (namely, your regularly screaming rig can slow to a crawl when dealing with hundreds or thousands of 3072 x 2304 images). Oh yeah, that’s right, first HD project! I now join the ranks of the bleeding edge of 2004.

If possible, try to watch it fullscreen in HD. Loud. Listen to / watch it how it was supposed to be heard / seen: loudly.

Launched!

Wow. So it finally happened. Nitro Handsome dot com is live baby!

This is only, you know, four months in the making. Just over a year if you go by domain registration times. Which only jerks do. You’re not a jerk, are you?

I’m pretty excited about this. The site is still a bit rough around the edges, but I’ll be ironing that out in the coming days. Additionally, the portfolio right now contains mostly illustrations. I’m tweaking some animations and short films before I upload them, and trying to go into a bit more detail about the processes I went through / responsibilities I had in the projects than I did on dave-logan.com. Same with designs. Those will trickle in as the days go by.

However, I do reiterate: I’m pretty excited about this. It took a long time to set up, but it seems that it will be very much worth it. Maintining my old 100% Flash portfolio was such a pain, not to mention a nightmare for search engines. This new site, using WordPress as a blogging platform and content management system, should reduce the general friction in updating.

Plus, no hyphens in this domain! I can’t tell you how many times someone entered the wrong url because of that stupid dave-logan.com hypen.

New domain, new beginings. It’s like a one act play that everything ends well in, or something. I’m kind of tired.
