I really do. Ever since I first found out about Threadless in 2004 or 2005, I’ve spent way too much on way too many awesome shirts. Who doesn’t like wearing a little bit of disposable yet slightly-artsy commercial . . . art . . . on his or her chest?

Over the years I’ve gone from the aforementioned granddaddy of them all, Threadless, to Uneetee, to Design by Humans, to TeeFury, and to a few solo shops such as Ugmonk. It’s interesting how each of these more or less have their own niche in the artsy T-shirt market. Threadless goes for the cute and the punny, Design by Humans is all about experimentation, TeeFury is kind of like a minor league DBH, and Uneetee is kind of like . . . well Uneetee is a bit harder to pigeonhole. But they’re still pretty badass.

Anyway, on to the impetus for this post. I just ordered a shirt from a new outfit I hadn’t heard of yet, Ten Bills. They haven’t been around too long by the looks of their catalog, but the quality of their designs makes up for the quantity, or lack thereof:

A lot of the shirts seem to be emphasizing fine linework, which is always interesting to see on a T-shirt. Also of note, they give you a couple of color options for each shirt. For example, the last shirt (the one I ordered incidentally) could also be ordered as silver ink on a charcoal tee. I’m still not sure which one I liked better . . .

Yes. I forgot. They have a sale/promotion going on right now. So get on that.

Build Voice and the Hazy Sea

Wow, I haven’t heard anything from Dan Deacon in ages, but his newish album Bromst is amazing. Yeah I’m a bit late to the party, but… well I don’t have a good excuse for that. Regardless, check out the first track, build voice, all the way through to see what I mean.

Gotta love that build.

While we’re talking about great first tracks of great albums, check out And the Hazy Sea from Cymbals Eat Guitars‘ album Why There Are Mountains.

I guess I’m just a sucker for that epic sound. It’s soooo eeeeeeeepiiiiicccccc. Eeeeeeeeeeppppiiiiiccccccc.

I just uploaded an old Animation Mentor assignment after a bit of tweaking and rendering. I kind of forgot how much I enjoy 3D work. It can be a long and arduous process, but the results are usually very satisfying.

I’ll be uploading a few more AM exercises over the next week or so, so keep an eye out. Additionally, I’m working on a new acting/lipsync 3D exercise, so uh, keep an eye out for that too. The other eye, I guess.

Just a quick sketch I did in a bit of downtime to make myself draw a full body again. I did… but it didn’t really come out as well for the legs. I’m a bit out of practtice, so hopefully doing a few of these every day will get me back up to my old level. Maybe better? Gasp!

Off to Santa Monica in a few hours for UB Coast to Coast. Stoked!

My Girls

I just rewatched this video a couple hours ago and thought I should share it here. I think it’s amazing, beautiful, awesome, most any positive word you can think of. Very inspiring, to me anyway.
